ABOUT EUMORPHUS
Roger Bullen, the person behind Eumorphus Editorial Services, has
over 20 years experience in editorial cartography and illustrated reference
publishing.
Fired by a childhood enthusiasm for maps he completed his Degree in Cartography
and Geography at Oxford Brookes University and proceeded to the Reader’s
Digest where he developed and refined his skills in a mainstream book publishing
environment. Fully instrumental in producing the Driver’s Atlas of the
British Isles - one of the first UK road atlases created from digital mapping
- he also managed and edited the map content of such diverse publications as
the Guide to Places of the World, 250 Tours of Britain and the World
at Arms,
a history of World War II.
At Dorling Kindersley Roger played a core role in establishing the new Cartography
Department. As Senior Cartographic Editor he developed house style, plus graphics
and placenames databases to serve the publishing programme. Resultant publications
included the ground-breaking DK World Atlas, DK Student Atlas and DK
History
Atlas.
Moving to Singapore with Berkeley Books, Roger developed a special interest in
Asia. As Senior Travel Editor he not only coordinated the innovative Periplus
Singapore Street Atlas and the production of new and revised titles in the Periplus
TravelMap and TravelPack series’ but also branched out in to other subjects
such as business, sport, cookery and languages.
Roger will always have a special relationship with Maps and Atlases but Geography,
History, International Affairs and Sport are other particularly favoured themes.
Travel is another subject focus with a special expertise in the British Isles,
Poland and Southeast Asia - especially Singapore.
